Objective
To produce a comprehensive 12-page magazine layout, the initial steps involved devising a captivating magazine name and brand identity. This was followed by crafting three distinct advertisements in line with the magazine’s theme. Furthermore, sourcing relevant articles and photography that resonated with the magazine’s content was imperative for a cohesive and engaging final product.
Process
Initially, the project felt daunting as I had never tackled a complete magazine layout, despite previous experience with magazine spreads. To manage the workload, I meticulously scheduled tasks and broke them down into manageable chunks. While I captured some imagery myself, the constraints of Covid necessitated the use of stock photos to maintain a professional appearance for Bark & Stay magazine.
Inspiration for the magazine stemmed from my passion for dogs, particularly my Bernedoodle named Price Couto, blending my love for graphic design and animals. Crafting the magazine’s branding, I aimed for simplicity and memorability, hence the choice of “Bark & Stay.” Throughout the magazine, I aimed for an informative, cheerful, and vibrant ambiance.
In designing the advertisements, particularly for dog food, I sought to create visually striking designs. Each advertisement, along with its logo, was crafted to be original and attention-grabbing, employing bright colors and engaging typography to ensure effectiveness in the competitive pet industry.
