Objective
The primary goal for this movie poster is to promote an independent film through photo manipulation techniques, featuring a storyline centered on Sirenia, a mermaid who has succumbed to darkness. Set in the fictional ocean of Ginevra, Sirenia harbours an obsession with ruling the sea, driven by the loss of her father to a pirate.
Seeking revenge, she resides in a pirate-infested region, luring them to their demise. Cursed by her mother, Sirenia appears enchanting above water but reveals her sinister, tentacled form below, claiming the lives of those who traverse the Ginevra Ocean.
Process
When starting this Movie Poster, I had to collect high quality imagery and images that I can manipulate to communicate what the movie is about. I also had to make sure that the imagery that I did choose made sense to the theme of the film that I came up with called the ShipWrecker.
One of the challenges when creating this Movie Poster was that I have never used the photo manipulation technique before, especially doing photo banishing. Before getting discouraged from this, I watched many videos on the technique being used. I also took the time to experiment with photoshop using these techniques before jumping into the program working on the main task.
This helped me to be prepared doing the movie poster because I was able to practice and gain experience using this technique. Once I was prepared, I was ready to start on the Movie Poster. Throughout creating the poster, I made sure the scene looked seamlessly even though I was using random images.
This was also a big challenge because all these images I used all had different shades and tones through them. To correct this, I made sure to edit them before bringing them into the main document.
